Family HealthCare Network presents 500 backpacks along with school supplies to students of Cutler-Orosi Joint Unified School District for back-to-school fair

CUTLER-OROSI – During its 22nd annual Back to School Health Fair in Cutler-Orosi, Family HealthCare Network (FHCN) anticipates that it will hit a milestone by giving away its 4,000th backpack.

Once again, the private nonprofit Central Valley organization handed out 500 backpacks to students with Cutler-Orosi Joint Unified School District (COJUSD) for its 22nd annual Back to School Health Fair. The event was on Aug. 5 at Cutler-Orosi Sports Complex north of Orosi High School along Road 128.

At the event, the network was expected to have given away 4,000 backpacks to students since it first started distributing them at their annual back to school events eight years ago. Each backpack was filled with school supplies, and was handed out on a first come, first serve basis. No registration was required before the giveaway, but backpacks were limited to students grades kindergarten through 12th.

During the back-to-school event, FHCN team members were also on site at the sports complex to provide students the latest health information and offer vital health screenings to anyone in attendance. They also introduced alternative beverage choices through the organization’s “Rethink Your Drink” campaign.

The annual health fair is made possible through FHCN’s partnership with the Cutler-Orosi school district, the Cutler-Orosi Lions Club, Tulare County Board of Supervisors District 4 representative Eddie Valero and the Tulare County Health and Human Services Agency. Media partners Radio Lazer and Telemundo also are helping to put on the event.

Family HealthCare Network has 48 sites featuring more than 300 clinical providers throughout Fresno, Tulare and Kings counties. The network’s services include family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, adult and children’s dentistry, pharmacy, internal medicine and behavioral health among its services.
