OES returns to Visalia for annual session

Grand Chapter of California, Order of the Eastern Star gathers at Visalia Convention Center to “have some fun under the Southwestern sun” for organization’s 149th convening
VISALIA – A fraternal organization is keeping up with its tradition of holding its annual session in the heart of Visalia, promising a unique blend of tradition and modernity under the theme “Having Fun in the Southwestern Sun.”
The city of Visalia is eagerly anticipating the arrival of the Grand Chapter of California, Order of the Eastern Star (OES), from Oct. 18 to the 21st as they convene for their 149th annual session. This year’s conference promises to be an engaging and memorable event, according to an announcement from Visit Visalia.
“Visalia is always excited to welcome the Order of the Eastern Star to our city,” Visalia Mayor Brian Poochigian said via announcement. “Our pedestrian-friendly downtown with restaurants, boutiques and entertainment venues, and just steps from our convention center, is ideal for convention groups such as the Order of Eastern Star.”
Visalia has been hosting this significant event since 2014, attracting OES members from across the state and beyond. Leading the proceedings for this year are Worthy Grand Matron Kimberlie Kavanaugh Kruse of Camarillo, California, and Worthy Grand Patron Gary Dunham of Richmond, California.
No registration is necessary to participate in these public events.
The OES, founded in the U.S. in the 19th century, is a Masonic appendant body that stands as the world’s largest fraternal organization open to both women and men, according to the Grand Chapter of California OES. Although OES is a separate organization, it is part of the family of freemasonry.
The organization’s chapters engage in charitable work, community service and personal growth activities, with a focus on principles such as charity, truth and loving-kindness. OES has its own rituals, symbols and traditions.
The Order of the Eastern Star, while evolving over time, has remained steadfast in its commitment to charitable initiatives and fostering fraternal bonds. It offers members numerous avenues for personal growth and community engagement. The State of California Grand Chapter is organized into 39 districts, each encompassing multiple chapters.
