Mental health clinic in Visalia to get pharmacy

Tulare County Mental Health says on-site pharmacy will reduce barriers for patients seeking treatment at the Visalia Adult Integrated Clinic on Tulare Avenue

VISALIA – Tulare County’s mental health clinic in Visalia will open a walk-up pharmacy this summer.

National pharmacy provider, Genoa Healthcare, will open a walk-up pharmacy at the Visalia Adult Integrated Clinic on Tulare Avenue. Genoa partners with community-based providers, health plans and others as part of a coordinated care team. The company specializes in care of patient with behavioral health issues, often with complex health conditions.

Genoa says it is “dedicated to serving the needs of those in the behavioral health and substance use disorder communities, and others who have complex, chronic health conditions, Genoa is the largest provider of behavioral health pharmacy and clinical services for individuals with behavioral health and other complex, chronic health conditions in the U.S.”

With more than 20 years of experience, Genoa serves over one million individuals annually across the United States. This would be the first Genoa pharmacy location in Tulare County although they do have a location in Hanford partnering with Kings View.

Tulare County Mental Health spokesperson Carrie Monteiro said the hope is that the on-site dispensary “can reduce the barriers” for patients who may face problems in getting their care. She said the new pharmacy, under construction now, should open by July.

The Visalia Adult Integrated Clinic has about 20 physicians offering 13 specialties. Tulare County owns the former Fairway Market site located at 520 E. Tulare Ave. in Visalia. It is open 40 hours weekly from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
