Tulare County TAGNET team uncovers slew of items meant for illegal sale during traffic stop, arrests one

VISALIA – What seemed like a standard traffic stop quickly escalated as officers unearthed some illicit goods, ultimately unveiling a cache of illegal items that were meant for sale in a Visalia home.

Just after 7 a.m. on Feb. 21, detectives from the Tulare Area Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team (TAGNET) made a traffic stop in Visalia. During the stop, they found Juan Placencia, 34, in possession of a gun and drugs for sale.

Detectives then went to a home in the 500 Block of Kaweah in Visalia and served a warrant related to Placencia. As a result of the investigation, detectives found a loaded 9mm gun, cocaine, methamphetamine and illegal prescription pills for sales.

Placencia was also found to be a previously convicted felon and was later booked into jail.
