LINDSAY – As the spring season rolls around and the orange blossoms begin to bloom, the Lindsay Art Association is preparing an art exhibit to showcase a diverse range of artwork through its 2024 Orange Blossom Festival Judged Art Show.

The Lindsay Art Association and Lindsay Cultural Arts Council have announced the upcoming 2024 Orange Blossom Festival Judged Art Show, set to take place from April 12 to May 17, at the Lindsay Museum & Gallery located at 165 N. Gale Hill Ave.

Artists are invited to submit their entries on Friday, April 5, and Saturday, April 6, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The competition features two divisions including the open division for adults and college students, and student division for high school students only. A wide range of media will be accepted including oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels (soft pastels only), graphics, mixed media, digital art, photography, sculpture, pottery/ceramics, gourd art and weaving.

Awards will be given for first, second, and third place in each medium within both divisions, along with honorable mentions at the judge’s discretion. The “Best of Show” will be selected from all first place winners, and categories may be combined if there are insufficient entries in individual categories.

There is a limit of three entries per artist, with an entry fee structure of $7 for the first entry, $5 for the second and $3 for the third, with a maximum fee of $15. The reception for the show will be held on Friday, April 12, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and will have an appearance from the Orange Blossom Queen and Her Court, as well as Lindsay’s 2023 Honored Couple.

Rules for the exhibit stipulate that entries must be original works created by the artist within the last three years, with no class work or workshop projects accepted. All entries must be properly matted and/or framed, with certain hanging requirements specified for different mediums.

Artwork sold during the show will remain on display until the close of the exhibition, with purchasers directed to contact designated personnel for sales inquiries. Payment will be made to the arts association. A check for the amount due to the artist will be mailed to the artist. Payments of fees and/or signature at sign-in signifies the agreement to these terms.

Artists are responsible for pickup of their entries on Sunday, May 19th, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with a storage fee applicable for entries not retrieved on time.
