Annual event to raise funds for local healthcare on April 26 at Valley Oaks Golf Course

PORTERVILLE — Prepare to tee off for a cause at the 19th Annual Sierra View Golf Classic, which is looking to bring a swing of support for local healthcare initiatives.

Presented by the Sierra View Foundation in collaboration with Bank of the Sierra, the 19th Annual Sierra View Golf Classic is set for April 26 at the Valley Oaks Golf Course in Visalia, beginning with a 10 a.m. shotgun start.

Renowned as a leading golf event in southern Tulare County, the Sierra View Golf Classic drew over 100 participants last year, including notable business leaders and local influencers. The tournament has contributed nearly $500,000 to local healthcare efforts over its 18-year history.

Funds raised at this year’s event will go toward purchasing vital medical equipment for the Sierra View Medical Center, such as fetal monitors, a Stryker Surgery Light and an in-patient dialysis treatment system.

Karen Johns, the 2024 Board Chair for the Sierra View Foundation, expressed enthusiasm about hosting the event at a new venue and the continued support from Bank of the Sierra and other sponsors. “This event is not just about golf; it’s about uniting our community for a critical cause,” Johns said.

The foundation is also conducting an online raffle with a variety of prizes, including a Pot of Gold Prize filled with gift cards. Raffle tickets are available for purchase at, with winners to be announced at the golf classic. Participation in the raffle does not require attendance at the event.

Registration for the golf tournament and sponsorship opportunities are open, with details available on the Sierra View Foundation’s website. The foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, confirms that all contributions are tax-deductible.
