TULARE — A beacon of community spirit and leadership, Donnette Silva Carter, CEO of the Tulare Chamber of Commerce, was warmly celebrated as the 2024 Tulare County Woman of the Year by Senator Shannon Grove.

Grove (R-Bakersfield) bestowed Carter with the award at 11 a.m., amidst applause and admiration on Monday, March 25. The award highlights her unwavering dedication and positive impact on the community.

The Woman of the Year award, a tradition since 1987, is given by California legislators to exceptional women in their districts to commemorate Women’s History Month. It recognizes women who have shown outstanding leadership and achieved remarkable accomplishments in their communities.

Senator Grove, representing Kern, Tulare, and Fresno counties, selects honorees from each county annually. This year, Silva Carter was chosen for her impactful work and dedication to Tulare County. During the ceremony, she was presented with a framed certificate from the Legislature, symbolizing her extraordinary contributions and achievements.

Silva Carter’s recognition is part of a broader effort to honor the vital roles women play in enhancing and shaping their communities across the state.
