Proteus, Inc. calls for scholarship applications from students in Tulare, Fresno, Kings and Kern Counties; aiming to boost higher education access

VISALIA — Proteus, Inc., a pillar for educational and workforce development in the Central San Joaquin Valley, has announced the commencement of its Mike McCann Scholarship Program for 2024, specifically targeting residents of Kern, Kings, Fresno, and Tulare Counties. The program is dedicated to providing financial aid to low-income farmworkers, their families, and Proteus customers pursuing higher educational goals.

Since its inception in 1967, Proteus, Inc. has been a key advocate for community advancement through educational and vocational services. This year, the organization is set to grant $500 scholarships to qualified applicants, contingent upon funding availability.

To qualify for the Mike McCann Scholarship, applicants must specifically reside in one of the four designated counties: Kern, Kings, Fresno, or Tulare. This regional focus underscores Proteus’s commitment to supporting local communities. Applicants are required to be enrolled as either full-time or part-time students at an accredited institution for the 2024-2025 academic year. It is important to note that Proteus employees and their immediate family members are ineligible for the scholarship.

Required application materials include a completed application form, a personal statement, and two letters of recommendation, alongside meeting the specified income requirements detailed in the provided guidelines. All submissions must be postmarked by April 30, 2024.

Applications are accepted through mail, by emailing [email protected], or in person at the Proteus office in Visalia. Scholarship winners will be announced in May 2024 and must subsequently verify their enrollment to receive the funds.

For more information about the scholarship criteria, application process, or other details, potential applicants are encouraged to visit the Proteus, Inc. website or contact the Scholarship Committee.
