Intersection crash leaves one dead near Visalia

Collision on Road 132, Avenue 265 intersection turns fatal after driver succumbs to injuries

VISALIA – A car collision at an intersection south of Visalia has resulted in the death of a driver, who fell victim to their injuries after the crash.

On April 30, a little before 7 a.m., officers with the California Highway Patrol of the Visalia Area responded to a witness’ report of a crash, which occurred within the intersection of Road 132 and Avenue 256.

During the investigation, it was determined a blue Honda Civic was traveling southbound on Road 132, approaching a stop sign at Avenue 256. A silver Honda Accord was traveling westbound on Avenue 256, approaching Road 132. Traffic on Avenue 256 was not controlled by a stop sign, and had the right-of-way. The Civic proceeded into the intersection, attempting to make a left turn onto Avenue 256 as the Accord closely approached.

Due to the distance between the two vehicles, the driver of the Accord was unable to avoid the Civic, and the front of the Accord collided with the driver side of the Civic, causing fatal injuries to the driver of the Civic.

The driver of the Civic succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Further investigation will aid in determining if drugs and/or alcohol were a factor. Any witnesses to this crash are requested to please contact the California Highway Patrol Visalia Area office at 559-734-6767.
