Visalia Police Department Traffic Unit investigates three vehicle collision that leaves one dead

VISALIA – A multi-vehicle crash in Visalia, which ultimately resulted in the death of one driver, saw firefighters using the “jaws of life” as part of their response to the accident.

On June 14 at 12:20 p.m., VPD officers and VFD firefighters responded to a three-vehicle collision at Akers Street and Noble Avenue.

VFD firefighters used the “jaws of life” to free one of the drivers, who is expected to be okay. Sadly, another driver involved in the crash died at the scene.

Neighborhood alert ends without incident

Around 2:20 p.m. on June 11, the Visalia Police Department responded to a call about a suspicious circumstance at a home in the 500 block of West Vassar Avenue. The caller discovered suspicious devices inside the home. After inspection, officers confirmed that the devices are contained and do not pose any danger to the community.

The Central Valley Regional Bomb Squad was called to further inspect and collect the devices. As of the latest reports from VPD, the scene has been cleared.

Carjacking at CVS on Caldwell

At 4 p.m. on June 7, Visalia officers were called to the CVS on Caldwell Avenue for a report of a carjacking. The victim informed officers that a man had pointed a gun at her and taken her vehicle.

Patrol officers, along with the Special Enforcement Unit (SEU), began searching for the vehicle. SEU located the stolen vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Avenue 264 and Road 100. Miney Sado Carallo, 39, was taken into custody without incident. The reported gun was found inside the vehicle and determined to be a replica.
