Two realty groups in the Central Valley, Zeeb Commercial Real Estate and Pearson Companies, announce merger to strengthen services

TULARE COUNTY – A leading realty company dealing with retail space, along with one of the Valley’s most historic agriculture and retail realty companies, has announced a merger that will allow for enhanced services across a broad swath of the Valley, particularly in the growing Visalia region.

Zeeb Commercial Real Estate was founded in 1966 and is considered the leader in retail property sales in the area. The company will merge with Pearson Companies, which was founded in 1919, and operates three distinct business operations handling agricultural sales, commercial properties and retail sites.

The merger was initiated by Pearson Companies’ CEO Peter Orlando. The move will see Zeeb integrate into the Pearson network, allowing for a broader range of services and opportunities for customers of both real estate firms. Zeeb primarily operates in Kings and Tulare Counties, while Pearson ranges from Fresno to Bakersfield. The expanded range will allow Zeeb to bring their expertise to a wider range of properties while giving Pearson a team of professionals that boasts over 100 combined years of experience in commercial sales.

Marty Zeeb, who will become vice-president of the commercial division following the merger, told The Sun-Gazette that the merger will provide better opportunities for clients and comes at a time when he was interested in making changes.

“The merger is going to bring more exposure to the Pearson companies with what we are doing at Zeeb,” Zeeb said. “It hits me at a good time because I am in a position in my career where running the business isn’t the most fun. I like to do the brokerage and the real estate deals, but I have always had to do everything that is involved in running a business. This takes all that off my shoulders and lets me do the real estate deals that I want.”

Visalia is in the midst of a growth spurt with new restaurants and retail businesses opening along Main Street and a rapidly developing shipping and distribution region on Plaza. UPS, Amazon and Ace Hardware have recently established massive warehouses in the area and a new 1 million square foot facility is nearing completion as companies have come to recognize Visalia’s central location and abundant workforce as key to expanding operations.

Zeeb said he looks forward to the opportunity to put his team into action to take advantage of the growing commercial real estate properties. Zeeb’s team includes real estate sales agents John Akers, Jessica Benevento, Kyle Rhinebeck and Marc Griffiths, who will serve as co-vp in the newly merged company.

“Integrating Zeeb Commercial Real Estate into Pearson Companies aligns with our vision to strengthen our market presence and expand our service offerings across Central California,” Peter Orlando, CEO of Pearson Companies said in a statement. “This merger allows us to delve deeper into the South Valley market, where Zeeb’s strong presence will be invaluable.”

The terms of the merger are not publicly available, but Zeeb said the deal involves a trade in stock options. He added that the merger is not likely to affect many aspects of operations, stating that the name and the phone number will remain the same, but that a revision to the company logo will be done to reflect the new position within Pearson Companies.

“The merger paves the way for an exciting future in which our combined experience and resources will drive growth and innovation in the real estate industry,” Orlando said. “We are looking forward to continuing to provide outstanding value to our clients and stakeholders.”
