Sheriff’s deputies tracked down a stolen 1949 Ford pickup, a second car, and several other tools
TULARE COUNTY – Tulare County Sheriff deputies chased down a classic car thief on Saturday, recovering not only a 1949 Ford pickup, but thousands of dollars in tools.
According to the sheriff’s department, around 6 a.m. last Saturday, Aug. 7, deputies were called to a home in the area of Road 188 and Avenue 256 in Exeter for a burglary. Two vehicles were also stolen from the home, one of which was the classic Ford pickup.
Shortly after 7 a.m., deputies found the truck in the area of Road 204 and Avenue 256. The driver drove into a nearby orchard and ditched it there. In addition to the pickup, deputies also found tools taken from the home, as well as the other stolen vehicle nearby. In total, about $55,000 worth of stolen items were recovered by deputies.
