No arrests yet in Exeter homicide

Exeter police, other detective continue search for shooter involved in apparent homicide

TULARE COUNTY – No arrests have been made as of yet in regards to an Exeter homicide that happened last Monday, Aug. 16. However, detectives from all over the county are working the case.

Exeter Chief of Police, John Hall said that a 9-1-1 call about a crash at Pine and H streets came in around 2 p.m. last Monday afternoon. Hall said the sole male occupant in the car was Rene Salazar Jr., 41, from Visalia.

An initial investigation determined that Salazar was deceased by an apparent gun shot wound. At that point Exeter detectives were called to the scene. They received assistance from the Woodlake Police Department, Farmersville Police Department and the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.

Exeter Lt. Liz Yarbar said that no arrests have been made as of Monday, Aug. 23.

“I know they are diligently still working on the case…as far as I know they are still [chasing down leads],” Yarbar said.
