Deputies arrest student for bringing gun to school

Student who made criminal threats to another student brings gun to Oak Valley School, more guns found in his home

TULARE COUNTY – Tulare County Sheriff’s deputies thwarted a possible school shooting last week when a 13-year-old boy brought a gun to school.

According to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office, just before 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 28, deputies were call to Oak Valley School in Tulare. When deputies they found a loaded handgun in the boy’s backpack. The 13-year-old was taken into custody without incident and the handgun was collected at the scene as evidence. No injuries were reported.

Detectives were called to the scene to take over the investigation. They found that the boy had made criminal threats to another person at the school prior to his arrest. A search warrant was conducted at the boys house in Tulare and detectives collected additional firearms while at the home.
