TCSO arrests 5 suspects, seizes paraphernalia

Investigation from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office leads to the arrest of five suspects along with obtainment of guns, drugs

TULARE COUNTY – An investigation conducted by county law enforcement, which spanned across four Tulare County communities, has resulted in multiple arrests.

On Aug. 3, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) reported the arrest of five suspects as a result of multiple warrants served on known gang members in Orosi, Visalia, Ivanhoe and Farmersville.

The warrants were served by the TCSO TAGNET (Tulare Area Gang & Narcotic Enforcement Team) as part of the ongoing investigation into the murder of an Ivanhoe man last week, the week of July 23-29.  In addition to the five arrested suspects, detectives also seized five guns, one assault rifle, ammunition, cocaine, 100 pounds of marijuana and gang indicia.

Aug. 1

TCSO also announced that its detectives are currently investigating a suspicious death in Visalia. Just after 4 p.m. on Aug. 1, TCSO deputies were called to the 35300 Block of Road 124 in Visalia after a woman’s body was found in a car.

Homicide detectives were called out to the scene and are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office at 559-733-6218.

July 31

Around 5:15 p.m. on July 24, TCSO deputies were called to a shooting in the area of Avenue 327 and Road 158 in Ivanhoe. When they arrived, deputies found Antonio Tapia Jr., 34, lying in the road with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives served warrants in Ivanhoe and identified Ismar Ambriz, 23, as a suspect in the murder and arrested him on Thursday, July 27.

On July 31, detectives identified a 16-year-old Ivanhoe boy as the second suspect in the murder. He was arrested and booked at the juvenile detention facility on murder charges.

July 29

TCSO deputies were dispatched to a gas station in Pixley for a report of masked subjects entering the gas station, located on the 500 block of East Terra Bella Avenue.

A deputy was nearby and arrived on scene before the suspects were able to rob the store. They fled on foot and one male juvenile was taken into custody. No one was injured and detectives took over the investigation.
