Visalia police apprehend Jeffery Eastman for inappropriately touching female student while at school

VISALIA – Officers with the Visalia Police Department were notified of a situation at Redwood High School this week, where an incident occurred involving a teacher inappropriately touching a student while at the school.

Occurring on April 29, the Visalia Police Department identified the teacher as Jeffery Eastman, 58. Following the incident, Eastman was immediately placed on administrative leave while VPD forces conducted an investigation.

Following the initial report, VPD Youth Services Officers contacted Eastman at his home and arrested him on May 2. Eastman was transported and booked at the Tulare County Pre-Trial Facility for lewd acts with a child, sexual battery and annoying molesting a child.

This incident appears to be isolated and there are no other victims we are aware of.

“The safety of our children is our FIRST priority. If you notice anything concerning or suspicious, please do not hesitate to speak up,” the Visalia Police Department said via announcement. “Remember, if you see something, please SAY something.”

Drug bust strike in Ivanhoe

In other news, the VPD’s Narcotics and Special Enforcement Unit served a search warrant at a residence on Waverly Court in Ivanhoe on May 2.

The narcotics unit had been investigating Jesus Villafan, 29, for narcotics sales within Visalia. When officers arrived at the residence, they arrested Villafan in the front yard.

Meanwhile, Ruben Anguiano-Guardian, 19 jumped out of a back window and threw a loaded “ghost gun” and several pounds of methamphetamine in the backyard. He also threw a loaded semi automatic rifle over a fence, where small children were present.

Officers quickly arrested Villafan and Anguiano-Guardian and recovered the discarded weapons and narcotics. The semiautomatic rifle was found to be stolen and had several illegal modifications.

Both suspects faced charges related to drugs and weapons, including child endangerment due to the reckless disposal of illicit items in an area frequented by small children.
