Chapel services for Shirley Long, 66, of Visalia were held on Nov. 14 with Pastor Samuel Estes officiating. Interment followed at Lindsay-Strathmore Cemetery. She passed away on Nov. 10.
She was born in Tulare on Dec. 22, 1936. She was a life time resident of Tulare County. She was a graduate of Porterville High School. She married Alvin Long in Porterville on June 5, 1955. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Strathmore and First Baptist Church in Fillmore. She enjoyed working in the garden with her roses and vegetables. She loved being with her children and her grandchildren. She spent her life as a homemaker caring and loving her family.
Survivors include her husband, Alvin Long of Visalia; three daughters, Diana Britten and Brenda Carlisle both of Exeter and Jennifer Beischel of Visalia; a brother, Clyde Phillips of Salem, Ore.; a sister, Helen Conderen of Exeter; eight grandchildren.
Her sister, Betty Allee, preceded her in death in 1994.
