Mass was said on Dec. 2 for Francisco A. Silva, 73, of Lindsay at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He died on Nov. 24.
He was born in Mexico on March 9, 1930. He married Amparo Moreno in Exeter on March 15, 1966.
He was a resident of Lindsay for 45 years. He worked as a fire fighter for the Department of the Forestry for 25 years. He had many odd jobs throughout his life, a farm laborer, tenemant manager, and a lawn care service. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He enjoyed gardening, crafts, watching wrestling, and the outdoors.
He was a devoted husband and father who loved his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Amparo Silva of Lindsay; two sons, Jorge Silva and Manuel Silva both of Lindsay; five daughters, Ramona Silva of Mexico, Francis Silva and Connie Silva both of Visalia, Martha Silva of Lindsay and Christina Silva of Porterville; two brothers, Jose Silva of Cutler and Maximillano Silva of Terrace, Calif.; four sisters, Marciliana Silva of Lindsay, Emma Silva of Oakland, Selerina Silva and Piedad Silva both of Mexico; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Janie Silva on April 5, 2001.
