Rosary will be held for Tomas Mendez, 90, of Farmersville at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at Evans-Miller Exeter Chapel. Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Exeter. He died on Dec. 5.
He was the son of Ambrosio and Cleofas (Hernandez) Mendez. He was born on March 7, 1913 in San Luis de la Paz, Mexico where he was raised. He married the former Virginia Villegas in Mexico and later moved his family to Texas and then to the Farmersville area where he raised his family. Virginia passed away on March 10, 1972. He later married Teresa Orozco and made their home in Farmersville. He was a loving husband, father and devoted grandfather and will be missed by all. He attended St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Farmersville.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa of Farmersville; four sons, Javier Mendez of Visalia, Carmelo Mendez of Farmersville, Tomas Mendez of Woodlake and Lorenzo Mendez of Farmersville; daughter, Gloria; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of Evans-Miller Exeter Chapel.
