A memorial service was held on Dec. 8 for Dovie A. Norton, 83, of Prineville, Ore. Graveside services were held on Dec. 10 at The Woodville Cemetery in Woodville. She died on Dec. 1.
She was born in Shay, Okla. on Jan. 23, 1919. At the tender age of 16 she married Hubert L. Norton on Aug. 3, 1935 in Madill, Okla. They lived in Oklahoma, Texas, Louisville, Kentucky back to Oklahoma then moved to California in 1945.
Survivors include a brother, Henry Stevens of Moore, Okla.; son, Haskel Norton and his wife, Linda of Redmond; son, Jerry Norton and his wife, Teri of Claremore, Okla.; Terrell's wife, Brenda Norton of Porterville; daughter, Maryann and her husband, Forest Carbaugh of Prineville; daughter, Brenda and her husband, Charlie R, Cantrell of Jacksonville, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; many wonderful friends and family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hubert; her parents; her son, Terrell and his daughter, Trisha Norton; grandson, Mark Allen Norton; brothers, Lawrence and Sidney Stevens of Oklahoma; two sisters, Lucille Fergusen and Margaret Fly Ward also of Oklahoma.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Prineville Funeral Home in Oregon and Webb-Sanders Funeral Home in Lindsay.
