Private services will be held at a later date for Dale Edward Lane, 86, of Exeter. He passed away on Dec. 29.

He was born in Brawley, Calif. on May 21, 1917. He graduated from Los Banos High School and earned his Golden Gloves at University of California, Davis.

He was a retired business executive and the owner of RTO Rents in Anchorage, Alaska where he resided for 25 years before retiring to Sequim, Wash. He moved to Exeter to be near family in October 2002.

He was a master carver specializing in birds and was an avid fly fisherman. He was a member of the Luther Burbank Lodge of the Masons of California an Elk and an Episcopalian. Most of all he was a loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by his son, Michael and wife Connie of Nevada City; two daughters, Susan Gambini and her husband, Barry of Exeter and Kathleen Reynolds and her husband, Jeff of Santa Rosa; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Madeline and his son, Chandler.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lane Learning Center of the Courage to Change, Inc., a residential treatment center for adolescent boys at 1230 N. Anderson Road, Exeter, CA 93221.
