Graveside services were held on Jan. 9 for David Lloyd Smith, 57, of Exeter at the Exeter District Cemetery with military honors by VVA #441, Tulare County. He passed away at his home on Jan. 4.

He was born in Seattle, Wash. on Jan. 14, 1946 to Lloyd and Willa Smith. He came to Exeter in 1961 and graduated from Exeter Union High School in 1964 and attended College of the Sequoias. He entered the United States Army and served in Vietnam where he was severely wounded in August 1967. He spent many months in rehabilitation for his injuries. It did not stop him from returning to college where he received a degree in Law. He practiced for many years in the Exeter area. He was proud to be a member of Vietnam Veterans of America and locally with VVA chapter of Tulare County #441.

Survivors include one son, Doug Smith of Kentucky; daughter, Stacey Davenport of Visalia; two brothers, William Smith of Arizona and Norman Smith of Mississippi; three grandchildren.

His son, Mark Smith preceded him in death.

He had a special love for animals and donations would be appreciated to the SPCA, 29016 Highway 99, Visalia, CA 93291.
