At her request private graveside services were held for Lorraine F. Johnson Holaday, 93, of Exeter, in the Tulare Cemetery next to her husband.
She was born on Oct. 23, 1910 in Visalia to Robert B. Johnson and Anna Elizabeth Clore Johnson. Her parents, and her late husband, Leroy C. Holaday, and his parents were all born, raised and lived in Tulare County.
Their grandparents on both sides were early day Tulare County settlers; she being from the Crowley, Fly and Johnson families; and Mr. Holaday from the Carpenters, Mann and Holaday families.
She attended Exeter Schools and graduated from Tulare High School along with her late husband in 1929. She attended business school in Fresno in 1932. She worked as a legal secretary before marrying Leroy C. Holaday in July 1934. He graduated from the University of Redlands in 1933.
Establishing their home in Exeter in August 1934, where Mr. Holaday was the Exeter High School Athletic Director and coach for many years before retirement in 1945 to go into ranching. In 1976 the gymnasium at Exeter Union High School was named in his honor.
She was a member of the Exeter Baptist Church where she was active in choir work and the music department for several years. She was a member of the A.O.A.I. an International Organist Association. A member of the Order of Eastern Star, Exeter-Visalia Chapter #13 where she served as organist.
