Rosary and Mass were held on Jan. 15 for Fernando "Fred" Beltran, 83, of Porterville at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lindsay. He died on Jan. 12.
He was born in Phoenix, Ariz. on Sept. 8, 1920. He married Helen G. Feddish in July 1955 in New Jersey. He was a resident of Lindsay for 25 years. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a medic where he was stationed in Europe and served in the Battle of the Bulge. He was also in Iceland and Ireland. He enjoyed farming in his olive and orange groves. He was a member of the Springville VFW, Big Brother Program, Kiwanis Club and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Roy Beltran of Lindsay and Armando Beltran of Porterville; two sisters, Mercy Vasquez of Lindsay and Ruth Newton of Venice, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen in 1997.
Arrangements were under the direction of Webb-Sanders Funeral Home, Lindsay.
