Funeral services were held on Jan. 17 for Gertrude May Gentry, 83, of Exeter. Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother she passed away in Vancouver, Wash. on Jan. 10.
She was born in Jeannette, Pa. on Sept. 18, 1920. At the age of 4 she moved with her family to Orlando, Fla. where she was raised and attended schools. She married Eugene Floyd Gentry in 1940, the couple made their home in Tennessee. The couple lived their until 1965 when they moved to St. Augustine, Fla. Due to her mother's health, she moved to Exeter in 1967. She retired in 1982, she then did sewing and alterations in her home. She was a member of the Exeter Community Service Guild "Pink Ladies," Exeter Woman's Club, Visalia Better Breather's Club, and Business and Professional Women's Club of Visalia.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was loved and will be greatly missed by her four children, Lee Gentry of Shnomish, Wash., James Gentry and Thomas Gentry both of Vancouver, Wash. and Susan Starling of St. Augustine, Fla.; brother, Edgar Helzel of St. Augustine, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Arrangements were under the direction of Evans-Miller Exeter Chapel.
