Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on March 5 at Free Will Baptist Church in Exeter for Dorothy J. Metcalf, 69, of Exeter. She passed away at her home on Feb. 29.
She was born in Montgomery County, Ark. on Sept. 20, 1934. She grew up in Arkansas and the family came to Linnell Camp when she was nine, however she moved to San Francisco to live with an aunt and complete her schooling. She returned to the Visalia area in 1969 and worked for Pacific Bell as a telephone operator for 30 years. She married Clarence Metcalf in July 1984 and they moved to Exeter where she was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church and the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence of Exeter; daughter Sandy Sterett of Exeter and four stepchildren; brother, William D. Shipman of Washington; eight step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Thurday, March 4 at Smith Family Chapel.
