A memorial service for Mabel Welch Hudson, 83, of Porterville, was held on April 13 at the Church of Christ in Lindsay. She passed away on April 9.

She was born in Oklahoma on April 22, 1920. She worked as a cook for 30 years. She was a member of Church of Christ of Lindsay.

She enjoyed reading, watching TV; some of her favorite shows included Dallas, General Hospital, Bonanza and she loved John Wayne movies. She sewed, embroidered, and made her daughters dresses when they were younger. She loved to read her bible and listen to bible tapes.

Survivors include her son Stephen Potter of Bowlett, Texas, two daughters, Judy Barton of Wasilla, Alaska and Margie Mills of Idaho, two sisters, Judy and Joy, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and 13 nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hudson was preceded in death by her son Ronald Hughes in 2001 and grandson Steie Barton in 1977.
