A memorial service for Ned Kirkham, 87, of Visalia was held on April 26 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Visalia. He died on April 21 in Visalia.
He was the son of Ruben and Mary (Cade) Kirkham. He was born July 25, 1916 in Home, N.M. He attended schools in Exeter and graduated from Exeter High School in June 1935.
He later studied theater arts and acted in various motion pictures and television series. Ned was an avid student of American history. He retired after 20 years with Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank. In the late 1980s he returned to work in security at Huntington Library in Pasadena. He married Ethel Caterson Flynn in May 1990 in Burbank. They moved to Visalia in May 1991.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles, in October 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Kirkham of Visalia; nephews, Charles Kirkham Jr. of Cody, Wyo. and Floyd Kirkham of Billings, Mont.; a niece, Sandra Hartog of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister-in-law, Gertrude Kirkham of Billings, Mont.; several grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
Remembrances may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 120 N. Hall Ave. in Visalia or the Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation, P.O. Box 3434 in Great Falls, Mont., 59403. Arrangements were under the direction of Evans-Miller Exeter Chapel.
