A graveside service for Velma Caudle, 77, of Strathmore was held on April 21 at the Woodville Cemetery officiated by Dick Parker. She died on April 16 at Lindsay Gardens.
She was born on Jan. 25, 1917 in Hammond, Okla. where she met and married Frank Caudle on May 28, 1937. She came to the Lindsay-Strathmore area in 1946. She worked as a field worker most of her life even at a young age working on her parents farm. She worked for Sunkist as a packer for a while. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Lindsay and then in Strathmore.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, in September 1982; a brother, Joel Farni in 1970; and a sister, Jean Johnson, in 2001.
She is survived by two sons, Frank Ashley Caudle of Yocon, Okla. and Joel Caudle of Porterville; a daughter, Gwendalyn McCall of Mt. Nebo, W.Va.; a brother, Kenneth Farni of Dumas, Texas; four sisters, Ruth Spradley of Chowchilla, Erma Soweders and Edith Weaver both of Elk City, Okla., and Thelma Caudle of Denton, Texas; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were under the direction of Webb-Sanders Funeral Home.
