Katy Louise Wescoatt, 22, died on March 20 in Ponca City, Okla. as the result of an accident.
Katy was born on Nov. 17, 1981 in Exeter. She was baptized Dec. 13, 1981 and confirmed March 31, 1996. She proudly and boldly confessed her Christian faith throughout her life. Katy had lived in Exeter, Fort Wayne, Ind. and Guymon, Okla.. She graduated as one of the valedictorians of GHS class of 2000. She was also active in extra-curricular activities and sports. She participated in golf, softball, National Honor Society, show choir and choir musicals as well as band. She was a very talented artist and was attending University of Oklahoma, scheduled to graduate in 2005 with a degree in art history. Kay spent the last few months of her life -- the best few months of her life -- as a mother to Martin "Max" Engster.
She is survived by her fiance, Martin Engster; her three-month-old son, Max; her parents, Rev. Mark and Dee Dee Wescoatt of Guymon; her sister, Robin Oblander and her family; brother, Ben Wescoatt and his family; grandparents, Liela Meyers, Alice Wescoatt and Lois and Bob Wescoatt. Also, Martin's parents, Mike and Sonja Engster and Martin's brother, Stephen Engster and his family, all of Ponca City. Funeral services were held at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guymon, Okla. on Saturday, March 27.
An education memorial has been established on behalf of Max Engster and may be sent to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church at 1212 N. Crumley, Guymon, OK 73942.
