Private family service was held for Robert "Bob" L. Lanning, 88, of Lindsay on April 27 at St. James Episcopal Church officiated by Father Philip Livingston. He died on April 22 at Camp Nelson, Calif.

He was born on Nov. 28, 1915 in Selby, S.D. He was a graduate of the University of California Berkeley and received his degree in Civil Engineering in 1937. He was employed as Manager of Lindmore Irrigation District for 32 years and was the former Mayor of Lindsay in 1967.

He married Anna D. Benge on May 5, 1993 in Lindsay. He was a member of Porterville-Lindsay Masonic Lodge No. 303 F.A.M., Friant Water Users Committee.

He worked as engineer for the Bureau of Reclamation and was instrumental in construction of the irrigation districts of Friant canal.

He is survived by his wife, Anna D. Lanning of Lindsay; son, Lawrence "Larry" Lanning of Tulare; brother, Cortland Lanning of Sacramento; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Contributions may be sent to American Heart Association, 1945 W. Shaw Ave., Fresno, CA 93721.
