A celebration of the life of Joyce A. Griffes, 80, of Visalia was held on July 2 at Salser and Dillard Funeral Service in Visalia. She died on June 28 at her home in Visalia.
She was born in Ivanhoe to Jack and Ellen Heard on July 23, 1923. She was raised in the area and graduated from Visalia Union High School in 1943 and attended College of Sequoias for two years. She married Warren Griffes on June 23, 1943. She loved to play golf and to be with her bridge group. She was a member of the Kaweah Delta Hospital Guild.
She is survived by her husband, Warren Griffes of Visalia; one son, Scott David Griffes of Utah; one daughter, Mary Ellen Vanderhousen of Montana; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
