Graveside services for Jose Guadalupe Santillan, 72, of Lindsay were held on Monday at the Lindsay-Strathmore Cemetery. He died on July 5 at his home in Lindsay. He was born on May 12, 1932 in San Lucas de Ocampo Durango, Mexico. He married Rosa Valles on Oct. 15, 1971 in Visalia.
He was a resident of Tulare County for more than 40 years. He was a hard worker, working for Lindsay Olive Growers, first in the fields and then later becoming a utility man in the plant.
He worked there for 11 years. He loved music and family gatherings where he would sing to his family. He was preceded in death by his son, Saul Santillan, who died on Jan. 6, 1990.
He is survived by his wife, Rosa Valles Santillan of Lindsay; seven sisters, Josefa Santillan of Lindsay, Emilia Garcia of Porterville, Magdalena Reza of El Paso, and Virginia Vega, Juventina Santillan, Bertha Santillan and Antonia Vega, all of Juarez, Mexico; a brother, Pedro Santillan of Lindsay; two daughters, Gisela Santillan-Outten of Tulare and Lilly Santillan of Lindsay; five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Optimal Hospice Care at 430 W. Caldwell Ave., Visalia, CA 93274. Arrangements were under the direction of Webb-Sanders Funeral Home.
