Mass of Christian burial was held for Onesimo H. Esparza, 69, of Lindsay on July 14 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lindsay. He was buried at the Lindsay-Strathmore Cemetery.
He was born to Jesus and Romana Esparza on Feb. 16, 1935 in Brownsville, Texas. He married Emma Esparza in 1957. The two moved to Tulare County in 1965. He was a firefighter with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Prevention for seven years and was a farm worker for many years. He was a member of Edad de Oro No. 7 in Porterville, S.P.M. No. 48 in Porterville, Sociedad Juarez in Bakersfield, Sociedad C.M.D.B. in Bakersfield and Sociedad Morelos in Modesto.
He is survived by his wife, Emma Esparza; two sons, Robert Esparza of Houston and Junior Esparza of Lindsay; four daughters, Nancy Esparza of Brownsville, Texas, Floricella Esparza, Cindy Esparza and Jessica Esparza all of Lindsay; one brother, Silvano Esparza of Houston; seven sisters, Consuelo Rios of Lindsay, Felipa Alvarez of Houston, Lupe Medina of Strathmore, Tammy Esparza of Porterville, and Maria Esparza, Josie Esparza, and Angie Medina all of Brownsville, Texas; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were under the direction of Peers Lorentzen Funeral Service in Tulare.
