Graveside services for Margaret L. Clark, 97, of Visalia were held on July 15 at the Woodlake District Cemetery. She died on July 9 in Visalia.
She was born to Noble and Lena Stutsman on May 9, 1907 in Youngstown, Iowa. She was one of eight children. Margaret married Clarence Clark on Feb. 26, 1927. Known by family and friends as Sam, her husband fondly called Margaret "Sis" until the day he died.
Sam and Margaret made their living as farmers and were the parents of five children -- Melvin, Harold, Glen, Crystal and Ned -- all of whom were born in Iowa. In 1940, Sam and Margaret moved their family to Orange County where Sam worked for Douglas Aircraft, building airplanes for the war effort. Margaret was a homemaker. After her children were grown, Margaret worked in the cafeteria at the school near their home. In 1983, Sam and Margaret moved to Woodlake. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Woodlake. She later moved to Visalia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam, on Feb. 11, 1985 and her youngest son, Ned, in 2001. She is survived by three sons, Glen Clark of Woodlake, Melvin Clark and his wife, Inge, of Lakewood, Calif. and Harold Clark and his wife, Shirley, of Missouri; a daughter, Crystal Mayfield and her husband, Burt, of Poteau, Okla. and formerly of Woodlake; six grandchildren, Denise, Mark, Brad, Kathy, Larry and Betsy; 11 great-grandchildren, Christopher, Daniel, Kristina, Michael, Cameo, Liz, Sam, Matt, Katie, Jackie and Mandy.
Arrangements were under the direction of Evans-Miller Exeter Chapel.
