A private burial for John Carter Woods, Jr., 79, will be held at Santa Nella National Cemetery. He died on July 29 at Kaweah Delta Hospital in Visalia.

He was born to John and Josephine Woods on Aug. 17, 1924in Graybul, Wyo. He was raised in Bakersfield graduating from school there and UC Santa Barbara. He served in the US Army during World War II and returned to Bakersfield and married there to Elizabeth Randolph in 1949.

They moved to Visalia in 1951 where he was a licensed real estate broker for many years. He was past president of the Visalia Chamber of Commerce and former member of the Visalia Kiwanis Club where he and his wife were active in the Miss Tulare County Pageant.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Visalia; one son, Michael Woods of Visalia; and one daughter, Dana Sansom of Exeter; and nine grandchildren.
