Graveside services for John Ertl, 71, of Strathmore were held on Sept. 16 at Frazier Valley Cemetery of Strathmore and officiated by Pastor Steve Behlcie. He died on Sept. 11 at Kaweah Delta District Hospital.
He was born on May 20, 1933 in Berkley, Calif. He married Wanda Lambeth on Oct. 24, 1964 in Strathmore. He served in the United States Army for 2 years. He was an orange rancher for 20 years. after which he became a TV repairman and had a shop that he ran out of his house. He was a member of the First Church in Strathmore. He enjoyed polka music, hymns, and praise songs. He also enjoyed flowers, especially tulips. He liked working on high quality sound systems. He liked building electric model trains, and was a member of Visalia Electric Railroad Modelers and Historical Society.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Ertl.
He was survived by his son, David Ertl of Strathmore; two daughters, Cinda Phillips of Porterville and Donna Alexander of Lindsay; and nine grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church of Strathmore, 23059 Ave. 198, Strathmore, CA 93267. Arrangements were under the direction of Webb-Sanders Funeral Home of Lindsay.
