Services for Ila E. Retherford, 96, of Exeter were held on Nov. 5 at Evans-Miller Exeter Chapel. Burial will be private at the Exeter District Cemetery. She died on Oct. 31 in Exeter.

She was born on June 21, 1908 in Bayfield, Colo. to William Leroy and Fannie Parks Maloy. She moved to California with her family as a teenager. She married Jasper Retherford in Visalia in 1935. She was active in the Neighbors of Woodcraft Lodge, Locust Grove Club and Nosegay Garden Club as well as a Den Mother for her son's Cub Scout Troop. She was also a scout leader for her daughter's Girl Scout Troop and was a Y-Teen Advisor. She was a long time member of the Hospital Guild and enjoyed working at the Hospital and the Thrift Shop. She also was a member of the Exeter Woman's Club for many years.

She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved doing things with her family. She had a knack for entertaining for her husband's business clients and eating out at many of the local restaurants.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Fannie Maloy; her husband, Jaspar Retherford; son, Michael Retherford; brothers, Lee Maloy, Wilburn Maloy, and Marvin Maloy.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Workman of Exeter; her brother, Robert Maloy and wife Marian of Lindsay; sister-in-law, Lily Maloy of Visalia; her grandchildren, Sherrie and husband Dennis Triplitt of Moraga, Carol and husband Ray James, Sandy and husband Daryl Hellwig, Tracy and husband Keith Cosart, Bill and wife Laura Workman all of Exeter, and David Retherford of Thailand; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
