Private graveside service for Paul Ellsworth Stone, 90, will be held at Exeter Cemetery with a public Celebration of Life service on Friday, Nov. 12 at 3 p.m. at Exeter United Methodist Church. Visitation will be on Thurs., Nov. 11 from 2-7 p.m. at Smith Family Chapel. He died on Nov. 4 in Sierra View Hospital.

He was born in Glendora to Harrison and Mae Ellsworth Stone on Sept. 30, 1914. He was raised and schooled in Glendora and attended two years at Citrus College of Glendora. He married Emily Rose Ulmer in Kansas in 1939. Paul had come to the Exeter area as a child spending the summer working on a family ranch and moved to Exeter in 1934 where he ranched 70 years in fruit. He was a lifelong member of the YMCA and a 70-year member of the Exeter United Methodist Church where in earlier years he played in the Church Orchestra.

He is survived by his wife, Emily Stone of Exeter; children, James Stone of Escondido, Calif., Mary Delaney of Mission Viejo, Calif., Thomas Stone of Palo Alto, Calif., Christopher Stone of Visalia and Patricia Remick of Reedley; 12 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
