Graveside services for Norman "Dean" Wright, 67, of Visalia will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19 at the Lindsay Cemetery. He was surrounded by family when he died on Nov. 9 at his home in Visalia after losing a brief battle with cancer.

He was born on May 7, 1937 in Asheville, N.C. Her served proudly in the US Navy for 20 years during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He served aboard the USS Hornet, USS Oriskini and USS Okinawa during the recovery of Apollo 6. After retiring from the Navy in 1973, he worked at Johnston Aircraft at the Tulare airport and Lycon Rebuilding in Visalia before fully retiring in 1997. He lived in Tulare for 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Jessie Wright; and two brothers, Pat Wright and Jr. Wright.

He is survived by his wife, Ann, of 47 years; a daughter, Anna McGadden and husband Chuck of San Carlos, Calif.; a grandchild, Jarod McGadden of San Carlos, Calif.; a brother, Bob Wright and his wife Linda; four sisters, Joy Wilson and husband Ronnie, Louise Trimble and husband Dean, Sandy Gentry and husband Jerry, and Ann Wright.

On his wife's side, he is survived by six sisters-in-law, Margaret Ray and husband Percy, Lois Gernstner and husband Larry, Marie Parker and husband Jim, Wanda Wood and husband Jim, Ruby Young and Clara Fugate; a brother-in-law, Jim Williams and wife Georgia; a father-in-law, Jim Williams.

He was also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family extends its deepest appreciation to Dr. Dean Hsu, his staff, and the staff of Hospice of Tulare County. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to Hospice of Tulare County, 900 W. Oak Ave. in Visalia, CA 93291.

Arrangements are under the direction of Webb-Sanders Funeral Home in Lindsay.
