Graveside services for Mae Shannon, 94, of Visalia will be held at 10 a.m., Dec. 8 at Exeter Cemetery. She died on Dec. 2 in Visalia. She was a homemaker.

She was born on Aug. 24, 1910 in Marlin, Texas to Thomas and Nora (Sikes) Allen, where she was raised and educated. She married Buster Brown Shannon in Texas in 1934. In 1942 the family moved to Corcoran for 14 years prior to moving to the Tulare, Exeter and Visalia area. Mae enjoyed embroidery, playing cards but most of all she loved to listen to country music, especially Merle Haggard. She was a loving mother, devoted grandmother and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Nora Allen; her husband, Buster Brown; three brothers; one sister; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

She is survived by one son, Butch Shannon of French Camp, Calif.; two daughters, Charlene Choate of Oregon and Shirley Woods of Tulare; four brothers, James Allen, Woody Allen, Connie Joe Allen, and Freddie Allen, all of Texas; three sisters, Bonnie Elliott and Ima Faye Laughlin of Texas, and Irene Verive of Illinois; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Evans-Miller Exeter Chapel.
