Graveside funeral services for Charles "Les" Hedrick were held on Dec. 28. He passed away at his home on Dec. 22 following a long illness.

He was born and raised in Lindsay before moving to Oxnard, Calif. He was employed by Northrup Aircraft before entering into the Untied States Army Air Corp in 1942. During his time with the Air Corp his airplane was shot down over Germany and he was taken as a prisoner of war. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Flying Cross.

He married Doris Reylene Hamlett in Laredo, Texas in 1943. The couple made their home in Lindsay, and then moved to Oxnard. In 1989, they moved to Visalia. He loved working on and flying airplanes, spending time with his family and spending summers at his cabin on Hume Lake.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, of 57 years. He is survived by two daughters, Sharon Leslie Travers and husband, Walt, of Camarillo, Calif., and Diane Grabowski and husband, Richard, of Lake Havasu, Ariz., one son, David Hedrick and wife, Elaine, of Dixon, Calif., one sister, Mildred Taylor of Santa Cruz, and fianc
