Service for Myrtle Melton, 93, of Farmersville were held on Jan. 28, 2005. She died on Jan. 25, 2005. She was a homemaker.

She was born on Feb. 14, 1911 in Cedar Glades, Ark. to Jim and Mary Teal. Her mother passed away shortly thereafter, and she was raised by her father and stepmother, Rosetta Teal. She married her sweetheart, John Melton, in 1927. They lived in Arkansas and Oklahoma where the raised six children before moving to Farmersville in 1975. Her husband, John, passed away in 1981 after 54 years of marriage. She was lovingly cared for in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Don Wilson for the last 13 years.

She was a woman of great faith in her God. She adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed making quilts, sewing, reading, and gardening. She was a member of First Jesus Name Church of Cameron Creek.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Melton in 1981; her mother, Mary Teal in 1911; one daughter, Bessie Willis; two sisters, Dottie Vanderslice and Mattie Kyle; four brothers, John, George, Charlie and Ivan Teal.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Don Wilson of Farmersville; son and daughters-in-law, Leon and Saundra Melton, Steve Melton and Marty, and Jerry and Debby Melton, all of Tulsa, Okla.; and J.B. and Isabel Melton of Claremore, Okla.; one brother, Earl Teal of Ark.; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were under the direction of Evans-Miller Exeter Chapel.
