A memorial service was held for Linda H. Dungan, 65, of Porterville. She died on March 1 in Bakersfield. She was a registered nurse.

She was born on Dec. 14, 1939 in Oxnard, Calif. to Harrison and Jean (Miller) Huckaby. As a small child she moved with her family to Exeter where she was raised and graduated from Exeter Union High School in 1957. In 1961, after graduating from UCLA with her degree in nursing, she married her high school sweetheart, D.Q. Dungan, at the Visalia Presbyterian Church. In 1981 the couple made their home in Porterville where she was employed by the Tulare County Department of Education as a school nurse throughout the rural schools of Tulare County for 20 years. She was a very loving and compassionate person who was loved an adored by everyone, especially the school children.

She was an active member of the Foothill Presbyterian Church of Porterville, AAUW, and P.E.O.

She was a loving wife and mother, devoted sister, awesome grandmother who adored her grandchildren and a faithful friend who will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harrison and Jean Huckaby; two brothers, Bill Huckaby and Dennis Huckaby.

She is survived by her husband, D.Q. Dungan of Porterville; one daughter, Sally Askew, and husband, Chris, of Pasadena, Tim Dungan of Visalia and Paul Dungan and his wife, Katheryn, of Rocklin; one brother, Gary Huckaby of Carmichael; five grandchildren, Marielle and Evelyn Askew, Madeline, Hannah and Quincy Dungan; several nieces, nephews, other extended family members and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation, 9221 Ward Parkway, Ste. 400, Kansas City, MO 64114-3367. Arrangements were under the direction of Evans-Miller Exeter Chapel.
