Robert “Bob” Henry Petter

Burial services for Robert (Bob) Henry Petter, 86, of Morro Bay were held on March 22 at the Exeter Cemetery. The former accountant died on March 7 after a courageous battle with cancer, leaving many friends and a loving family.

He was born in Brainerd, Minn. on Aug. 6, 1918, bit was raised in Montana. At the start of WWII, he entered the U.S. Army where he met and married Nancy Clawson, also in the Army, at Fort Douglas in Salt Lake City, Utah. When the war ended the couple returned to her hometown of Exeter where they established a home and raised a family. He was an accountant for Lemon Cove Assn. and Golden State Packers in Wooklake for some 30 years. He participated in many activities with his growing family in Exeter. He was an avid bowler and also loved golf.

He was preceded in death by Nancy and infant son Stephen. Upon his retirement in 1978, he married Dorothy Silvey. They owned and operated Wick's N Whim's in Morro Bay, where they moved to in 1980.

He belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles and spent many years as assistant secretary to the lodge. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 432.

He leaves his loving wife of 26 years, Dorothy Petter; devoted son, Richard W. Petter of Santa Barbara; and loving daughter, Elizabeth Fries and husband, Kurt, of Simi Valley; his beloved sister, Margaret Petter of Morro Bay; three grandchildren, Shanon Moore of Clovis, Kasey and Erin Fries of Simi Valley; two great-grandchildren, Mitchel and Heather of Clovis. He also leaves two step-daughters, Ruth Siefe and Kathleen Silvey, both of Santa Barbara.

A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced by Eagles Aerie No. 3693 in Morro Bay. In lieu of flowers the family requests you to donate to your favorite charity in Bob's name. Arrangements are under the direction of Benedict-Rettey Mortuary, 1401 Quintana Road, Morro Bay, CA 93442.
