Memorial graveside service for Blanche M. Burns, 99, of Visalia, will be held at 2 p.m. on April 22 at Exeter District Cemetery. She passed away on April 12 and was looking forward to the big 100 on February 15, 2006. She was a home economics teacher and was born on Feb. 15, 1906 in Earlsboro, Okla. to Edgar and Ader Vanlandingham, who preceded her in death in 1981.

She graduated with a Masters Degree at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, and taught school several years in Oklahoma, before moving to Exeter in the late 1940's. She taught Home Economics at Exeter High from 1953-1960, finishing her teaching career at Strathmore. She was a member of the Exeter Church of Christ for many years, after retiring they moved to Visalia, where she attended Central Church of Christ. She is survived by one brother, several niece's and nephews, many former students, friends and a special couple "Lu and Blaine Spitler" who loved her and faithfully looked after her needs. Arrangements are under the direction of Evans-Miller Exeter Chapel.
