Taylor was born in Tahlequah, Okla., to Robert and Peggy (Gritts) McLemore Nov. 19, 1921. He was the 11th child of 13 children. He passed away May 27 in Visalia at the age of 83.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Margaret Hunt in Riverside, Calif., April 5, 1945. They were together 51 years until her death in October 1995. They had moved to the Exeter area in 1946. After working for various ranches, he retired from Wheeling Machines in 1987. He was a soft, gentle person that showed the love of God to everyone, and he never forgot a face. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his quick wit. He and Margaret were involved in the many lives of the youth of Exeter. They had spent many years at the Exeter Church of God; their door was always open. He had a happy second marriage to Yvonne Waggoner in June 1998 until her death in July 2003.

Survivors include daughters Peggy McLemore and Cyndee Fahrni (Jerry); granddaughter Gena Miller (Rick), "the light of his life;" great-grandchildren Samantha, Dalton and Tristin Miller of Visalia; grandsons Robert, Jerry Lenn and Douglas Fahrni, along with their wives and children; sister Christine Davis of Oklahoma; stepsons Dana Butler, Danny and Don Waggoner and families of Lindsay. He was preceded in death by stepson Tommie Kolb in 1985.
