Edna June Wiley of Exeter passed away June 9 after a brief illness.

June was born March 24, 1931, in Las Cruces, N.M. The family moved from Oklahoma to Exeter where June attended grade school and graduated from Exeter High School in 1949. After living in Visalia for several years, she married Paul Wiley in 1964 and moved to Big Creek, Calif., where she raised her two children.

In the 1970s June moved to Fresno, where she worked at Sierra Community Hospital and Kaiser Hospital as a PBX operator. After retiring, she moved to Exeter where she was an active volunteer in the Exeter Pink Ladies Thrift Shop and the Farmersville St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Shop.

June's favorite pastimes were fishing in the high Sierra lakes and traveling in the United States, Europe and Mexico. She particularly loved Hawaii and Mexico.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Wiley; her son, Tom Matthews, and his wife, Cathye, of Exeter; daughter, Jetina Matthews, of Sparks, Nev.; sister, Joy VanLaningham of Independence, Ore.; sister, Sybil Durrant, of San Diego; five grandchildren, Laurie, Valerie, Krishana, Rachel and Jetina Matthews; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 18 at 4 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Exeter, 320 E. Firebaugh.

The family would like to give special thanks to the Church of Christ in Exeter and to Hospice of Tulare County.
