Harley Jackson Pendergraft

Born Aug. 15, 1929, in Overbrook, Kan., he passed away in Visalia June 13 at the age of 75. He had come to Exeter in the mid 1930s and married Betty Calvin in 1948 in Exeter. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and returned to Exeter where he worked 35 years at Waterman Industries. He served the Exeter community by being a member of the Exeter Ambulance board, the Exeter Cemetery board and Sequoia Union School board. He had been an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Sportsman Club. His wife Betty passed away in 2002.

Survivors include one son, Darrell Lee Pendergraft of Gary, N.H.; two daughters, Harlene Irvin and Nicki Hulsey, both of Exeter; one brother, Darrell Pendergraft of Exeter; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, June 17, at Smith Family Chapel followed by military graveside rites at Exeter Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.smithfamilychapel.com.
