Wilma Lorene Green Folks Woodward

Chapel services for Lorene Woodward, 93, of Lindcove will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 13, at Smith Family Chapel in Exeter following a visitation at 1 p.m. at the chapel. A private burial will be held at Exeter Cemetery. She died on July 10 in Visalia.

She was born to Robert and Selma Green on March 30, 1912 in Hydro, Okla. She grew up in Stafford, Ariz. where she attended elementary school and graduated from high school. She married Washburn Folks in Globe, Ariz. The couple had four children together. They moved to California and lived in Oakland, Santa Barbara, Tulare, Visalia, Fresno and finally Exeter in 1945. Lorene worked as a secretary for the Visalia Baptist Church in Exeter and operated a day care center for many years. She was a great cook and loved to entertain. She loved children and was fondly known to many as "Grandma Renee." She was a member of the Visalia and Exeter baptist church. She later married James Woodward in Exeter and the couple moved to Longview, Wash., then Denver, before retiring to Lindcove.

James preceded her in death in 1990. She was also preceded in death by her son, Robert, in 1998 and a step daughter, Connie Wilma Mook. She is survived by three children, Neva J. Appling of Visalia, Betty J. Vincent of Citrus Heights, Calif. and Joann Mann of Woodlake; a step daughter, Annette Reisig of Kelso, Wash.; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-grandchild, five step-grandchildren and 12 great-step-grandchildren.
